Romania is hosting Spain in round 5 of 2020. Euro Cup qualification.
Romania has been solid and has only 1 loss this year which happened against Sweden back in March. In this qualifications, Romania is in group F with Spain, Sweden, Norway, Malta, and the Faroe Islands and is holding 3rd place in the standings with 7 points and still pretty good chances to get to the second place which will get them qualified for Euro Cup next year. In their last game against Malta, Romania was completely dominant with 57% of ball possession, 7 shots on goal, 6 corner kicks and 85% of correct passes and has won this game 0-5. Cosmin Contra is a legend in Romania and has been appointed as the head coach back in September of 2019. and since then, the Romanian national team has only been improving and playing better and better. Romania has a young team with players like Marin, Puscas, Man, Hagi and one of the best goalkeepers in Europe, Andrei Radu. Romanis are in the rebuild mode and older players are slowly leaving the team which is opening the space for young and upcoming talents. There are no injured or suspended players in Romania's squad which means coach Contra will have his full squad at his disposal in this very important match. In first 4 games of this qualifications, Romania scored 11 goals and conceded 7 goals and was playing in good form, but it's been 3 months since their last game and we are yet to see if that form can continue.
Spain has consistently been of the best teams in the world over the last decade and will continue to be one for probably another decade with the talent and potential they have. Spain is the leader in this Group F with 12 points, 11 scored goals and only 2 conceded goals. In their last game against Sweden, Spain was by far the better team with 74% of ball possession, 7 shots on goal, 16 corner kicks, and high 91% of correct passes and has won this game 3-0 with goals from Ramos, Morata, and Oyarzabal. Spain is playing fantastic soccer with high ball possession, lots of short passes and the attacking third of the field and high pressure when not in the possession of the ball which allows them to win the ball fast and create a lot of goal chances. Spain is strong on every position in the field, but the strongest part of their team ins their midfield led by Busquets, Cazorla, Parejo, and Isco who are older and experienced players and have been playing on the highest level for many years. Spain also has 2 goalkeepers that are probably in the top 5 in the world which is only an additional advantage for them. Luis Enrique has stepped down as Spain's head coach last week for personal reasons and Alberto Moreno has been appointed as the new head coach. Moreno was Enrique's assistant coach so the transition for players will be easy because they know him and are familiar with his ideas. Spain is currently ranked as 9th in FIFA standings mostly because of poor World Cup last year. Spain is playing great soccer and is in great form and is once again one of the top favorites to win the Euro Cup next year.
Spain and Romania have played their last game back in 2016. and since then both teams have changed a lot. Because Spain is one of the best offensive teams in the world and is playing in fantastic form, I will side with Spain and goals.
