The Seattle Sounders FC and Montreal Impact play Sunday night at the Stade Saputo.
The Seattle Sounders FC need a win badly after losing five of their last six matches. The Seattle Sounders FC are a defensive team that’s allowed 20 goals in 21 matches and pitched nine shutouts. Stefan Frei leads Seattle with 71 saves and has allowed five goals in his last three games. Offensively, the Sounders have scored 25 goals overall and two goals in their last four MLS matches. Obafemi Martins leads Seattle with seven goals, Clint Dempsey has six assists and Lamar Neagle has 32 shot attempts. The Seattle Sounders FC have lost four straight MLS road matches, which includes a 1-4-0 record in their last five road contests overall.
The Montreal Impact could also use a win after winning just two of their last six matches. The Montreal Impact are an offensive team that’s scored 24 goals in 17 matches and five goals in their last three matches. Ignacio Piatti leads Montreal with six goals, Andres Romero has two assists and Jack McInerney has 26 shot attempts. Defensively, the Montreal Impact have allowed 27 goals overall and have pitched three shutouts. Evan Bush has come away with 63 saves and has allowed four goals in his last three starts. The Montreal Impact have won four of their last five home MLS matches.
Montreal has beaten Seattle in two of the first three meetings, but the Sounders won the most recent match back in March of last year. The last two matches between these two teams have combined for just three goals.
I’m not sure how anybody can back the Sounders with the way they’re playing, as this team is clearly lost without Dempsey on the field. The Impact and the small chalk has to be the pick here.
