Sevilla is hosting Real Madrid in a derby match on round 5 of Spanish LaLiga.
Sevilla is playing fantastic soccer at the moment and hasn't lost any of their last 6 games. Earlier this week Sevilla played a Europa League match again Quarabag and has won 0-3 away from home. In their last match in LaLiga against Deportivo Alaves, Sevilla was a much better team with 62% of ball possession, 7 shots on goal, 6 corner kicks, and 85% of correct passes. It was a tough game for both teams, and Alaves was defending good but Sevilla was able to score a goal in 37th minute and the game ended 0-1. After first 4 matches in LaLiga, Sevilla is the only team without a loss and is at the top of the standings with 10 points, 5 scored goals and only 1 conceded goals. Jordan has scored 2 goals for Sevilla, while Nolito, Vazquez, and Reguilon each added 1 goal. Nolito is the only injured player in Sevilla's squad and will not be playing in this match. Sevilla has lost only 1 game since the early May of this year and a lot of thanks should go to Lopetegui who has improved the defense of this team and rose it to a different level. Sevilla has a lot of good and experienced players like El Haddadi, de Jong, Banega, Navas, and Nolito and their latest signing Javier Hernandez, former Manchester United striker. Offensively, Sevilla is one of the best in LaLiga, but their defense is another story. Whole last season Sevilla was struggling on the defensive end, and even though they are playing good right now, I think they lack depth and quality to keep it up throughout the whole season.
Real Madrid is in a serious slump right now, especially on the defensive end. Real Madrid has conceded 9 goals in their last 5 matches and got demolished in Champions League against PSG earlier this week. In LaLiga, Real has 2 wins and 2 draws and are somehow managing to end up with a positive result despite their huge struggles. In their last match against Levante, Real was a better team with 65% of ball possession, 11 shots on goal, 9 corner kicks, and 91% of correct passes. Real Madrid was leading 3-0 by the half time with goals from Benzema and Casemiro but Levante didn't give up and was able to score 2 goals in the second half. Real Madrid was able to win this match 3-2 and stay ahead of Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in the standings, at least for now. Benzema has scored 4 goals and is Real's top goalscorer while Bale added 2 goals. Real Madrid has a lot of problems with injuries with some of their best players like Isco, Modric, and Marcelo and coach Zidane doesn't have a solution for this. Only good news for Real Madrid and their fans is that Eden Hazard is finally healthy and ready to play and is expected to play this game from the start. Real Madrid is struggling on the defensive a lot and their goalkeeper Courtois is not in a good form and so far that hasn't cost Real a lot in LaLiga. When playing in good form and playing their usually fast and precise soccer Real is almost unstoppable but that form is still far away. Little by little Real's form will start to get better because they are a to the talented team to stay in this slump.
While playing at home, Sevilla hasn't lost to Real since 2015. given the fact Sevilla is playing much better than Real Madrid and has fewer injuries, I will take a stab at Sevilla.
