A good match up on Saturday as Shakhtar Donetsk take on Anderlecht on Thursday. Shakhtar are a quality team but have lost their best player Texeira in the January transfer window as he moved to China for big money. Shakhtar look to Bernard, Fred, Eduardo and Srna have both the experience and youth. This team is full of quality alot of Brazilians but Shakhtar have had to play all their home games away from home all season. Shakhtar went to Schalke and won 3-0 in a terrific performance in the last round and Shakhtar will be one of the favourites to make it through to the next round here and could be a darkhorses for the competition.
Anderlacht came through a tough group with a win over Tottenham at home and will look to their home form to get them through this tough tie. Anderlecht have some quality players with former Belgian starlet Defour a key player. Okaka is their best player and has been quality in Europe as well but with twelve goals in twenty six games this season. Sylla & Marlos will provide support from midfield but overall I think Anderlecht are out matched here and I am thinking that they will go to the Ukraine looking to keep it tight.
I am going to take Shakhtar -1 here, I like this team and even without Texiera they have quality throughout the side and should have too much for Anderlecht.
