One of the games of the night on Wednesday will see Shakhtar Donetsk take on Fenerbahce at the L'viv Arena in the Ukraine. Unfortunately Shakhtar's home stadium the Donbass Arena is unavailable because of the unrest that is still going on in the Ukraine. Shakhtar will look to get themselves into the last qualifying round when they take on Fenerbahce. Shakhtar have some quality players sprinkled throughout the squad with Brazilians Teixeira , Bernard and Fred all looking to make their mark in Europe. Add to the aformentiond Brazilians to former Arsenal striker Eduardo and you can see where the threat comes from in this side.
On the other had Fenerbahce went out and bought some real quality with Deigo, Nani and Robin Van Persie all joining in the summer. Van Persie made his debut in the first leg coming on as a second half substitute. He looked a little sluggish though and for me the two players Nani and Diego have both looked really impressive in the friendly games I seen. I think Nani could be a surprise success here in Turkey and this side need to get themselves through to the Champions League. There is a huge amount of pressure on Fenerbahce here and that could be costly in this game.
While the first leg finished 0-0 and therefore no one really has an advantage coming into this game I cant help but feel like Shakhtar with their greater Europeand experience should just sneak this one. Both teams struggled though last week and I am not crazy about taking either to win outright. Instead I am going to take both teams to score here as I think we see significantly more offence on Wednesday night between two teams littered with attacking talent.
