Southampton are on the brink of relegation but they have another chance to redeem life into their survival fight as the Saints host Bournemouth at St Mary’s Stadium for a South of England derby.
Bournemouth seems like they are safe from relegation and as a result, it is unlikely that this match will matter greatly to the Cherries. The away side was in danger of relegation for a long time but it appears that treat in now over thanks to some good performance after Christmas. This is a derby game so the team will want to win but their determination will not be as high as that of Southampton.
As far as the Saints are concerned, if they lose then it will be near impossible for them to survive relegation. Southampton are not the worst team on paper but they have been playing like a team that does not want to win. This side managed to throw away winning situations many times and it appears that will cost them dearly. A win over Bournemouth might trigger a comeback and although it will be difficult, I see Southampton winning at home since the win means much more to them.
As far as betting is concerned, I think that we are getting a good enough price to wager on the home side, Southampton to win this game. The outright market is paying well so there is no reason to not bet on the outright market. As far as goals are concerned, I expect a high scoring game since neither side can defend. This means that the over 2.5 goals is the bet to make.
