Southampton vs Brighton 31 January 2018: EPL Preview and Predictions

Southampton played well against Watford in the FA Cup but now they will need to turn their attention to the Premier League as the Saints host Brighton at St Mary’s Stadium. This is a big game for both sides since a win will be huge in ensuring that relegation is not the end result at the conclusion of the season.

Brighton have done well this season but it is time that they start winning games. Currently, only one point above the drop zone, a loss against Southampton might put them in the bottom three. The players and the manager will know about this and as a result, there will be a great importance placed on this game. A win will be incredible for Brighton but they must ensure that they don’t lose this game.

As far as Southampton are concerned, if they win this game they will be out of the relegation zone. This is a huge motivation for the players and the manager and I think we will see a determined Southampton side entering the stadium this week. It is safe to say that the fans will also be aware of the situation and that we can expect a loud and intimidating atmosphere at the St Mary’s Stadium.

Having taken all that into consideration, I am going to predict a draw. Southampton will be desperate to win while Brighton will be desperate not to lose meaning that the away side will park the bus. The Saints have struggled to score at times while Brighton have been solid all season so I see a 0-0 draw. We are getting a good price to bet on the draw and as a result that is what I am going to suggest for this game.
