Liverpool will travel to the St Mary’s Stadium where they will play Southampton.
Liverpool had a big win in their previous match as they beat Tottenham at home to keep the title race alive. Liverpool are currently second on the Premier League ladder but with pressure building with Manchester City’s form, they must win every match to ensure they don’t exclude themselves as title contenders. In their last game, Liverpool created 14 shooting chances. Roberto Firmino was the star player for Liverpool as he scored the opening goal for the game. The result was relatively lucky for Liverpool as the winner was provided as an own-goal. This is expected to be an easier match for the Reds as their opponents are significantly weaker.
Looking at Southampton, the Saints are scraping to ensure they avoid relegation. It has been a decent few weeks for Southampton as they have produced big results against teams likes Tottenham and Brighton. Southampton’s last game was against Brighton where they won 1-0. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was the only goalscorer in the match as he scored in the 53rd minute to give the team the lead. Southampton will know the importance of getting points from every match but it is going to be very tough for them to compete with a determined Liverpool side.
Liverpool and Southampton met earlier in the season at Anfield where the Reds won 3-0. Mo Salah scored for Liverpool in that match.
As far as this match is concerned, I am going to pick Liverpool to win. I am expecting to Southampton to play in a very defensive manner but with the likes of Sane, Salah and Firmino, I think the Reds will be good enough to score. Liverpool will be determined to win and keep pace with Manchester City and I see that happening in this match.
