In the English Premier League, Manchester United will travel to St Mary’s Stadium to face Southampton.
It has been a very poor few weeks for Manchester United as they failed to defeat Crystal Palace at home in their last outing. Manchester United are midtable and the fans are getting very frustrated by the performance of the team. The likes of Pogba, Matic and Lukaku are playing very poorly and that has made Manchester United look like a sinking ship. This should be a slightly easier match as their opponent is looking weak but the likes of Martial, Lukaku and Lingard will need to play better since the Red Devils lacked goal scoring options in their previous Premier League match.
On the other side of the coin, Southampton are struggling as they lost another match last weekend when they were beaten away from home by Fulham. During that defeat, Southampton were excellent going forward but they defended very poorly which could be very problematic in this match. While Manchester United are not attacking well, they still have very skilled players who should be able to expose a weak Southampton defense. The Saints are struggling and are currently in the relegation zone meaning that it will be very hard for them to turn their form around in this match.
These two teams met twice last season with Manchester United holding the stronger head-to-head record of 1-1-0. The last head-to-head match at St Mary’s Stadium was won 1-0 by Manchester United.
All in all, I am going to pick Manchester United to win this match. While the Red Devils have struggled, they are much stronger than Southampton and I see them beating a very weak home team. With pressure on Mourinho and his players, I see Manchester United returning to winning ways against Southampton.
