I like Southampton but every season they seem to lose their best players and the rebuilding seems to really hurt the club. With that in mind, they will have an easy opening game this season as the Saints take on Watford in front of their home crowd at St Mary’s Stadium.
Southampton have lost a ton of players but the likes of Shane Long remain at the club which will give the fans some hope as the Irish international will look to lead his team this season after coming off what was a promising Euro 2016 campaign with his national side. Along with this, the Saints still have a pretty solid defence and that should allow them to get a few good result throughout the season.
Watford on the other hand will look to stay up once again and they will need to do that at home. Watford will find it tough on the road and this week it will be no different in my opinion since St Mary’s is not an easy place to visit. I don’t see Watford even scoring here and if things get bad, it could be embarrassing for the hornets.
I think this game will be tough to bet on because Southampton are paying a very short price and that is problematic. That being said, both teams not to score is a pretty good play since it is value and pretty safe so it is worth a punt in my opinion.
