Spain’s primary cup competition returns this week with plenty of exciting matchups. I’m expecting most of the top-flight teams to advance into the next round, but I've also included a potentially profitable cup upset among the best bets. Let’s get stuck in!

Ibiza Eivissa vs. Barcelona – 1/22/20

Third-tier outfit Ibiza welcome Barcelona to the White Isle on Wednesday. Ibiza currently sit third in their Segunda Division B group, while Barcelona are flying high at the top of La Liga. Barcelona have only lost three of their 20 league games this season, so I can see the Catalan giants progressing into the next round with a comfortable victory. New boss Quique Setien is likely to rest a number of his star players, but Barcelona’s forward line will still be far too strong for Ibiza to handle. Barcelona are huge favorites at 1.02, so add an over goals market into the mix to boost the odds.

Pick: Barcelona to Win and Over 3.5 Goals – 1.68

UD Logrones vs. Valencia – 1/22/20

Logrones will come into this game full of confidence. The third-tier side are top of their Segunda Division B group after suffering just two defeats this season. They also boast the second-best goalscoring record in the division. On the other hand, Valencia are seventh in La Liga but only sit four points behind third-place Atletico Madrid. The top-flight team are obviously the favorites here, and the odds for a Valencia win are 1.57. However, Valencia have struggled in defense this season, while Logrones have been scoring goals for fun. Given the respective goalscoring records of the two teams, I’m backing Valencia to win but not without conceding.

Pick: Valencia to Win and Both Teams to Score – 2.57

Mirandes vs. Celta Vigo – 1/23/20

I was looking for a fixture that has the potential to provide us with a classic cup upset, and I think Mirandes vs. Celta Vigo could offer us exactly that. Mirandes are tenth in the second-tier of Spanish soccer and are unbeaten in their last six games in all competitions. By contrast, Celta Vigo are in La Liga’s relegation zone after failing to win any of their previous five league games. With staying in La Liga Celta Vigo’s main priority at the moment, I think manager Oscar Garcia is likely to rest his key players to keep them fresh for league commitments. Mirandes will be looking to progress in the Copa del Rey, so I can see them getting the better of Celta Vigo.

Pick: Mirandes to Win – 4.00

The pick in this article is the opinion of the writer, not a Sports Chat Place site consensus.
