Freiburg is hosting Bayern Munich in round 27 of German Bundesliga.
Freiburg is a solid team who have already accomplished their goal of preserving Bundesliga status for next season and are safe in 11th place in the standings with 7 wins, 10 draws and 9 losses and 31 points. Freiburg was playing in good form before this international break and have lost only 1 out of their last 6 games but we are yet to see how will this break effect the team. Petersen is Freiburg’s top goal scorer with 8 goals while Waldschmidt added 7 goals. Kath, Sallai, Hofler, Kleindienst, Gulde, Koch, Kubler and Leinhart are all injured and coach Streich will need to reach into youth squad for some players. In their last game against Borussia M’gladbach, Freibur did really well despite having only 46% ball possession, 2 shots on goal and 87% of correct passes and the game ended in a 1-1 draw. Freiburg doesn’t really have an offensive game style and their defense is one of the worst in Bundesliga with 42 conceded goals so far, everyone at Freiburg are satisfied with a spot in the standings they currently hold.
Bayern Munich is top team in Germany in every aspect and has been for years now. Bayern have lost only 1 out of last 9 game and that was against Liverpool in Champions League which was pretty disappointing for everyone in club but Liverpool was simply better team in that match. Bayern have scored 24 goals in last 6 Bundesliga matches and Lewandowski leads Bayern and Bundesliga with 18 goals while Kimmich added 10 assists. In their last game against Mainz, Bayern was absolutely amazing with 69% of ball possession, 11 shots on goal, 13 corner kicks and 89% of correct passes and have won that game 6-0 with a hat trick from James Rodriguez. With 60 points and 68 scored goals Bayern is at the top of the standings and after a small crisis in January, coach Kovac has done a great job to turn things around and catch up to Dortmund who were at one point huge 12 points in front of Bayern. Tolisso and Robben are injured and will not play this game but rest of the squad is at coach Kovac’s disposal who is expected to put out his strongest lineup with Muller, Lewandowski, Alcantara and Rodriguez.
Freiburg is usually playing good against top teams but because of all the injuries and because Bayern is playing in really good form at the moment I’m not giving Freiburg much chances.
