The Sporting Kansas City and Vancouver Whitecaps FC clash Saturday night at the Children's Mercy Park.
The Sporting Kansas City hope to build on their impressive 1-0 victory over the Seattle Sounders. In the win, Sporting Kansas City flexed it’s muscle defensively by allowing just eight shots overall and two shots on target. Meanwhile, Kansas City was able to find the back of the net late in second half to get the two points. Nuno Andre Coelho leads Kansas City with one goal, Jordi Quintilla has one assist and Graham Zusi has three shots. Defensively, Tim Melia has two saves on two shots faced. The Sporting Kansas City have picked up points in five of their last seven regular season home games.
The Vancouver Whitecaps FC hope to rebound from a tough 3-2 loss to the Montreal Impact. Vancouver lost despite getting 21 shots overall, 10 shots on goal and controlling the ball for a little more than 51 percent of the match. The Vancouver Whitecaps FC can’t be happy with the loss after outplaying their opponent. Jordan Harvey leads Vancouver with one goal, Christian Bolaños has one assist and Octavio Rivero has six shots. Defensively, David Ousted has come away with two saves on five shots faced. The Vancouver Whitecaps FC have lost three of their last four regular season road games.
Sporting Kansas City has picked up points in four of the last five matches against Vancouver. The Whitecaps only win over Sporting Kansas City during that time was in August of 2014. The last meeting between these two teams in August of last year produced seven goals.
Even though the Whitecaps are going to be an upset and focused team this time around, you have to like Sporting Kansas City at home. KC has gotten the best of the Whitecaps over the years and flat out dominated Seattle with its defense.
