UEFA Champions League – Matchday 4: Best Bets – Odds, Predictions, and Picks
Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at 8:58 PM (Europe)
At the halfway point of the Champions League group stage, PSG, Bayern Munich and Manchester City are the only teams with a 100% record in the competition. I’m predicting a big win for Man City on Matchday 4, but can fellow English clubs Chelsea and Liverpool also claim three points? Here are the best bets for this week’s Champions League fixtures.
Chelsea vs. Ajax – 11/5/19
Chelsea claimed an impressive win away against Ajax in the previous round, and I’m backing the English club to get the better of the Dutch giants once again. Both teams have picked up six points from three Champions League games this season, while Chelsea sit at the top of Group H thanks to their superior head-to-head record. Frank Lampard’s side have won eight of their last nine games in all competitions and will be eager to take control of Group H with a victory against their closest challenger on Tuesday. Ajax are certainly no pushovers, but Chelsea should have enough to get the job done.
Pick: Chelsea to Win – 1.91
Liverpool vs. Genk – 11/5/19
Liverpool are huge favorites to win this match at 1.06. Jurgen Klopp’s men remain unbeaten in the Premier League this season with a record of W11/D1/L0. The Reds sit 2nd in Group E with six points from three games, but they have conceded at an average of two goals per game in the Champions League so far this term. Genk have only managed to pick up one point from their three European matches this season, but they have lost just two league games. I’m backing the English side to win this match, but they have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last seven games. A home win and both teams to score is on the cards here.
Pick: Liverpool to Win and Both Teams to Score – 2.53
Atalanta vs. Manchester City – 11/6/19
Manchester City thrashed Atalanta 5-1 in the reverse fixture a fortnight ago, and another win for the English club looks likely this time around. Pep Guardiola’s side have scored two or more goals in each of their last five games in all competitions. They sit top of Group C with maximum points, having scored 10 and conceded just 1 in three games. Atalanta have conceded 11 goals in their three Champions League games and have also been leaking goals in Serie A. An away win is 1.44, but I think Man City will score two or more goals in the process.
Pick: Manchester City to Win and Over 2.5 Away Goals – 2.04
