UEFA Europa League – Matchday 1: Best Bets – Odds, Predictions, and Picks

The Champions League may be the pinnacle of European soccer, but the continent’s secondary club competition, the Europa League, arguably dishes up more exciting betting opportunities.
Let’s take a look at the best bets from the opening round of the 2019/20 UEFA Europa League.
Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Arsenal – 9/19/19
With Standard Liege and Vitoria making up Group F, Frankfurt and Arsenal are both expected to advance to the knock-out stages without any real trouble. For that reason, I think the match between the two favorties on Thursday will be a cagey and tense affair. Neither team will want to give anything away in their opening match, and a draw looks likely. Arsenal are slight favorites at 2.25, while Frankfurt offer odds of 3.00. Both sides have made satisfactory starts in their domestic leagues, but have failed to really get going so far. The odds for a draw here look really tempting.
Pick: The Draw – 3.50
Stade Rennes vs. Celtic – 9/19/19
Rennes have been attracting a lot of attention recently. The French club have won 3 of their first 5 Ligue 1 matches this season, and grabbed a famous victory over PSG in that time. Celtic are the dominant force in Scotland, but have done very little on the European stage in recent years. Rennes enjoyed a run to the last 16 of this competition last season, and I think they will pick up a win on the opening day this time around. It’s worth mentioning that they are not big goal scorers, so adding an under market into the equation makes this bet far more appealing.
Pick: Stade Rennes to Win and Under 2.5 Goals – 3.89
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs. Braga – 9/19/19
Wolves are back in European soccer following a 40 years absence. The English side massively overachieved last year and finished 7th in EPL. I think the team will come out firing in their opening match and I’m backing them to win both halves. Portuguese club Braga will definitely offer some resistance, but the hostile atmosphere expected at Molineux on Thursday night should help play a huge role in the outcome of this match. Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota make up arguably one of the strongest strike partnerships in the competition, and I wouldn’t be surprised if both of them get on the scoresheet.
Pick: Wolverhampton Wanderers Half Time/Full Time – 2.60
