The US and Mexico play on Saturday in a one game playoff to see who will play in the Confederations Cup in 2017 the game takes place in the Rose Bowl in California and the US coach Jurgen Klinsmann seems to be under extreme pressure with regards to keeping his job. Clint Dempsey, Michael Bradley and Jose Altidore will look to lead the US to victory over El Tri but this is going to be an extremely tough test for the Americans who have really struggled in recent months. Losing out in the semi finals of the Gold Cup to Jamaica and losing the subsequent third/fourth place play off to Panama. The US have some quality players but Klinsmann appears to be struggling to get the best out of the team.
Mexico were excellent in the final of the Gold Cup and won the comeptition comfortably in the end, they have followed that up with a very credible 2-2 draw with Copa America and World Cup finalists Argentina. Former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez is the key man for Mexico alongside Carlos Vela up front. Mexico have lots of attacking talent and will be playing for their places in the World Cup qualifiers as new boss Ricardo Ferretti gets used to his new team.
This game is little more than a glorified friendly and although the Confederations Cup could be seen as good preperation for the World Cup it rarely means anything. For me though the only angle that could be worth looking at in this game is the pressure Klinsmann is under. I am going to take the US to get a win here against El Tri as I believe the players like and want Klinsmann to continue and they will win this one for him. Min bet as with all glorified friendlies though.
