The Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Houston Dynamo square off late Saturday night at the BC Place.
The Vancouver Whitecaps FC hope to get a bounce back victory after a 1-2 start to the season. The Whitecaps have three players with at least four shots on goal and three different players with at least one goal. The aggressive offense is clearly there early for the Vancouver Whitecaps FC, a franchise that hopes to make the playoffs for a third straight season. Pedro Morales leads Vancouver with three goals, Christian Bolaños has one assist and Octavio Rivero has nine shots. Defensively, David Ousted has come away with nine saves on 16 shots faced. The Vancouver Whitecaps FC have come away with points in six of their last nine regular season home games.
The Houston Dynamo is off to a 1-1-1 start and hope to pick up points on the road for the first time in forever. The Dynamo have six players with at least three shot attempts and have scored at least three goals in four of their last seven matches. If the Dynamo can just play better defense, they’d be a serious team to watch out for this season. Will Bruin leads Houston with three goals, Boniek García has two assists and Andrew Wenger has nine shots. Defensively, Joe Willis has come away with 16 saves on 23 shots faced. The Houston Dynamo have lost five straight regular season road games.
The Vancouver Whitecaps have won three of the last five meetings against the Houston Dynamo, including the last match in October. Houston beat Vancouver in the other two matches. Four of the last five matches has produced at least three goals.
When you add Vancouver's success against Houston and the fact the Dynamo haven't won a road game in quite some time, you have to side with the Whitecaps at home.
