Another cracking match up in the Europa League will see high flying Villareal take on an inform Bayer Leverkusen in what should be an enthrawling game at El Madrigal. Villareal are up to fourth in the league table and having a fantastic season. Roberto Soldado has been a success since his summer move from Tottenham with the former Valencia man firing in eight goals so far this season, perhaps not as prolific as previous years in Spain but much better than his average return in England. Villareal have quality throughout the squad with Dos Santos, Suarez and the aformentioned Soldado along with Bakambu who has top scored for Villareal with eight goals in the league this season. Villareal have been excellent at home in the Europa League with four wins from four played this season.
Bayer Leverkusen have been very up and down recently, they have lost three of their last five overall and drew 3-3 at the weekend after trailing 3-0 at the break. Chicarito was rested at the weekend as Bayer Leverkusen look at this competition as a realistic opportunity of making it into the Champions League. Currently sitting eight in the Bundesliga Leverkusen may find it difficult to overhaul Schalke, Mochengladbach, Mainz and Wolfsburg to get a Champions League place next season. Chicarito has been brilliant this season the former Manchester United striker has fourteen league goals already, his best return in a domestic league since playing in Mexico. WIth Calhanoglu, Chicarito and Kibling there is a good amount of talent here and I think Bayer will fancy this game.
Going to take both teams to score here, while Villareal have played tough all year at home they have a tremendous defensive record at home but Bayer leverkusen equally have an impressive attacking front three and nearly always score in fact they have only not scored twice in their last twenty eight games. This is a game between two impressive sides who look on paper at least to be pretty evenly matched. Could be alot of draws in the Europa League on thursday night!
