The first game in Group B of the European Championships will see Wales take on Slovakia with both teams looking for a win to give themselves the best chance of advancing to the knockout stages.
Wales star man will of course be Real Madrid attacker Gareth Bale, Bale scored seven of the eleven goals Wales scored in qualification. Bale is a genuine world class talent and Wales will rely heavily on their star man but they are far from a one man team. Chris Coleman has a talented squad with alot of team players Joe Allen, Aaron Ramsey, Ashley Williams and Sam Vokes are all capable of contributing at the top of the game and James Collins and Williams at the back will be very tough to break down. Wales qualification was in second place after losing to Bosnia and Herzegovina with two games to go but that was their only loss of the qualification and they beat Belgium in Wales. This is a team ready to step up and make a mark in this tournament and they know that they will face England in a massive derby game in the second group game and will want to take full points here before that mammoth task.
Slovakia though come into this game in fine form , their recent friendlies they have been impressive and they have their own star man in the form of Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik. Slovakia beat Germany in a recent warm up game and came from behind to do it. This is a team that again is based on defensive stability. Slovakia finished second in their group to Spain but did beat the Spanish at home another huge success for this sledgling team. To be honest there isnt much between these two in terms of talent and both have come through their respective groups impressively. Slovakia do boast a little more form in terms of their recent friendlies but Wales were missing star man bale for their games with the striker busy winning a Champions League with Real Madrid.
For me we should see a pulsating encounter here but I dont see many goals. I think both teams will set themselves up not to lose here and defence may be king in the opening Group B games. If I was to have a sneaky scorecast though Bale and Wales 1-0 is tempting. I'm taking the unders in this one.
