The Bundesliga is back and Werder Bremen take on Schalke on the opening weekend at the Werderstadion in Bremen. This is a game that will see Bremen's top scorer from last season Franko Di Santo line up for Schalke after he was sold in the summer. Werder Bremen have brought in Ujah and Johansson to replace Di Santo and it will be interesting to see how Bremen do this season after struggling for much of last season. Bremen are a big side with a huge support but they have been in decline for the last few years and this could be a big season for Bremen. Bremen though have had a good pre season and they negotiated a tough DFB Cup game last weekend with Ujah netting his first goal for the club.
Schalke have added alot of quality to their side in the summer with Nastasic, Di Santo and Geis all joining in the summer and all three happened to find the net at the weekend in the DFB Cup. Star man Huntelaar is still going to be the key to how Schalke do this season but they are building a team around him with Draxler, Geis, Choupo Moting and Di Santo now here to burden some of the expectation this is a team that will be pressing for Champions League places in the Bundesliga but will also feel like they have an outside chance of a run at the Bundesliga title. The talent is definitely there but can they get the results to back it up?
Taking Schalke to get a win here in what I feel is a generous price on the away side as they just look the better team here. This is defintely going to be a tough game for Schalke but if they are to compete for the title or look for Champions League football they will need to get the win in these tough away games.
