Wolverhampton will begin their life back in the English Premier League at home as they take on Everton. This is a big season for both teams and starting on a winning note will be a priority for both managers. This should ensure we get a hard-fought game between two very talented teams.
Wolverhampton were the best team in the League Championship last season and the team has only improved since last season. Wolves have signed the likes of Joao Moutinho from AS Monaco and Jonny Castro from Atletico Madrid. These new additions will build to the strong core of players that are already present at the club. It has been an expensive transfer window for Wolverhampton and that means that the club must avoid relegation or there could be serious financial trouble. I am expecting the club to have a tense start due to the situation and it will be up to the players to ease the nerves by getting early points on the board.
On the other side of the coin, Everton have had a very poor transfer window with the side making some unconventional signings. The signing of Richarlison from Watford was the most unpopular one as the Toffees made a huge amount of money for a player that is still very young and unproven in the Premier League. These signing will mean that the team will have to perform or the manager might lose his job quite early. This opening round match is one which Everton will be expected to win, even away from home.
I think we are going to get a draw in this match. While Everton are the better team on paper, I think Wolves will be good enough to get a point at home. Expect Wolverhampton to have a huge amount of support from the crowd and that should be enough to get the home team a point. The draw is paying well so that is the wager which I am going to suggest we make.
