From Russia with freezing temperatures on Tuesday we have Zenit St Petersburg taking on Valencia. The Spanish side are in a little trouble here as they must better Gent's results in the last two games in order to qualify and Gent have an away trip to a struggling Lyon and a home game against an already qualified Zenit. Valencia will look to young Spanish striker Alcacer to keep them in contention as he has done most of the season. With six goals already in the league, the youngster is yet to open his Champions League account and a goal in St Petersburg could be very valuable. Valencia have struggled at times for consistancy this season and this is a big ask going to Russia needing to get something from the game.
Zenit come into this game as slight favourites but considering their perfect 100% record thus far I think the bookmakers are maybe under estimating how good this Zenit side is. With Hulk, Witsel, Danny, Javi Garcia and Dyzuba there is alot of talent in action here for Zenit and managed by Andres Villa Boas you can be guaranteed the team will be well coached and will give everything. Zenit have been very impressive thus far in the Champions League and in my opinion are the better team here.
While Valencia do need a result here I cant go against Zenit here and at 6/5 they look to be one of the best bets of the Tuesday evening games for me. Yes Zenit dont need a win but a win puts them through as Group winners no matter what and I think that given how well they have played in the Champions League they will want to go out and perform for the home fans. With the weather projected to be -1 or worse for the entirety of the game though I'm not going all in on this one as it will just be too cold and a mistake from a player could easily result in a goal. I am though taking Zenit to get the win with a confident stake.
