The Line: -- Over/Under:
Agnieszka Radwanska and Caroline Garcia meet in the third round of the 2016 US Open.
Agnieszka Radwanska is coming off a straight sets win over Naomi Broady that took 22 games to decide. In the victory, Radwanska racked up 28 winners and just nine unforced errors, a recipe for a deep run in this tournament if those numbers can continue. Overall, Radwanska continues to play impressive tennis, as she has yet to drop a set this tournament and has won six straight matches when you add in her Connecticut Open title. Radwanska hopes to make the fourth round of a grand slam for fourth straight try and her fifth US Open fourth round appearance. Radwanska has won six straight matches on hard court.
Caroline Garcia is coming off a three set win over Katerina Siniakova that took 30 games to decide. In the victory, Garcia had 37 winners and 36 unforced errors, numbers that have to change if she hopes to advance past the third round. Garcia has played six sets this tournament and that doesn’t include her doubles play with partner Kristina Mladenovic. Garcia has to be far more consistent with her play if she hopes to win this match. Garcia has seven career wins over top-10 players, four of which came in 2015. Garcia has never made the fourth round of a grand slam. Garcia has split her last 10 matches on hard court.
These two have played four times and Radwanska has won three of those matches. The most recent match was in this year's French Open, a match Radwanska won in 18 games. Garcia’s only win over Radwanska came in the 2014 Wuhan Open.
Radwanska is in rare form since winning in Connecticut and will eat Garcia alive if she continues her high number of errors. You add the history between these two and I don’t give Garcia much of a chance to win this match. Radwanska is playing too well and too clean to lose to a shaky Garcia.
Radwanska advances to the fourth round.
