The Line: -- Over/Under:
Australian tennis player, Alex de Minaur will be playing at the 2019 ATP Rosmalen Grass Court Championships. Alex de Minaur will begin his campaign in the second round where he will play against Andreas Seppi from Italy.
Alex de Minaur enters this tournament following a very poor French Open campaign where he was eliminated in the second round. Looking at his entire clay season, it was very disappointing as Alex de Minaur has only won 1 match since the end of the Miami Masters. Moving onto the grass circuit should be a boost for Alex de Minaur since the Australian is excellent on grass. Alex de Minaur has a 70% win rate when playing on grass. Alex de Minaur’s grass pedigree is further acknowledged by the fact that he finished second in the Boys’ Wimbledon event in 2016. Turning his clay form around will not be easy but considering the change of surface, Alex de Minaur will be confident in his ability to do well.
On the other side of the coin, Andreas Seppi played in the opening round where he defeated Thomas Fabbiano in straight sets. It was a tight match where Seppi won only 56% of the games but the Italian player did enough in the key moments. While the victory was solid, the serving was not great from Andreas Seppi as he only won 75% of his service and had a first serve percentage of 64%. It is essential that Seppi improves his serve since it is very hard to win return games on grass. This will not be an easy match for Andreas Seppi as he is playing against one of the top seeds in this tournament.
This will be the first time that Alex de Minaur and Andreas Seppi will be playing each other at an ATP event.
Taking everything into consideration, I am going to pick Alex de Minaur to win this match. It is fair to say that Alex de Minaur has not been at his best but the Australian is exceptional on grass and he should be a very tough player to beat. Seppi didn’t look outstanding in the previous round and I see his poor serving costing him in this match.
