Tennis | Karen Khachanov vs Alexander Zverev
Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

German superstar, Alexander Zverev has made it into the quarterfinals of the 2018 ATP Paris Masters where he will face Karen Khachanov from Russia.

It has been a very good tournament for Karen Khachanov as he beat world number 9, John Isner in the round of 16. It was a big win for Karen Khachanov as he won a closely contested third set tiebreak to get the victory. It was impressive watching Karen Khachanov serve as he hit 11 aces and won 83% of the points played during his service games. This allowed Karen Khachanov to win all of his service games which gave him a big advantage over Isner. That being said, Karen Khachanov had issues winning return games as he only broke Isner’s serve once in the entire match. Khachanov will need to return serve better as Zverev will make it harder for the Russian to hold his service games so easily.

On the other side of the court, Alexander Zverev won his third round match against Diego Schwartzman with ease. It was a dominant performance by Zverev as he won 3 break points while preventing his opponent from winning any return games. Zverev has looked very good all tournament as he has not lost a single set in the entire event. Zverev has done exceptionally we at the Masters 1000 events as he holds a record of 22-7 this season and I see him improving on that record.

Alexander Zverev and Karen Khachanov have played twice in the past with Zverev winning on both occasions. The most recent match was at the French Open this season where Zverev won in 5 sets.

This should be a good match as both players are playing strong tennis but I see Alexander Zverev winning. Zverev is a much more complete player and he seems to produce his best tennis at the Masters 1000 events. I am picking Alexander Zverev to make it into the semifinals.
