The 2019 WTA Rosmalen Grass Court Championships have reached the semifinals where Russian tennis player, Veronika Kudermetova will compete against Alison Riske from the United States.

Veronika Kudermetova played a close match in the previous round as she defeated Greet Minnen in 3 sets. Kudermetova had a poor start to the match as she lost the opening set but the Russian fought back extremely well to take the final 2 sets and the overall victory. During the victory, Veronika Kudermetova received serve extremely well as she won 43% of her return points. Kudermetova won 4 return games and 81% of her service games during the match against Minnen. Veronika Kudermetova has never made the final of a WTA tournament so the pressure of this match may play a factor in the Russian’s approach.

Alison Riske won her previous match in straight sets. During the victory, Riske served very strongly. Alison Riske won 69% of her service points which allowed her to win 91% of her service games. In addition to that, Alison Riske also won 30% of her return games to set up a relatively comfortable victory. Alison Riske played at an ITF event prior to this tournament which she won. That victory will give Riske lots of confidence as she plays this tournament. Riske has made 7 prior WTA finals so she should be confident in her ability to handle the pressure of a semifinal match.

Veronika Kudermetova and Alison Riske have played each other once in the past. That match was played in 2018 at WTA Tianjin where Veronika Kudermetova in 3 sets. The prior match between Alison Riske and Veronika Kudermetova was played on a hard court.

Veronika Kudermetova has played well throughout this tournament but I see her losing to Alison Riske. Riske has more experience and will be high on confidence having just won an ITF tournament. Riske was outstanding during the quarterfinals and I see her winning this match and making her 8th WTA final.
