Anastasija Sevastova and Anastasia Potapova meet in the semifinals of the 2019 tennis Baltic Open.

Anastasija Sevastova is coming off a straight sets win over Irina Maria Bara that took 21 games to decide. In the victory, Sevastova won 57 percent of her first serve points and 50 percent of her second serve points. Sevastova won 54 percent of her total service points and converted on six of her eight break points. Sevastova got 60 percent of her first serves in play and saved 12 of her 16 break points. Sevastova has won eight of her last 11 sets and has done a great job of saving break points, but her serve could improve overall. Sevastova looks to make her first final appearance since last years China Open and the eighth final appearance of her career. Sevastova has won four of her last five matches on clay court.

Anastasia Potapova is coming off a three sets win over Patricia Maria Tig that took 26 games to decide. In the victory, Potapova won 53 percent of her first serve points and 36 percent of her second serve points. Potapova won 44 percent of her total service points and converted on eight of her 11 break points. Potapova got 48 percent of her first serves in play and saved 10 of her 19 break points. Potapova has a combined 23 double faults this tournament and has managed to win four of her last eight matches that have gone the distance. Potapova looks to make her first final appearance since last years Tashkent Open and the third final appearance of her career. Potapova has matches on clay court.

Potapova won the only match between these players in Prague of this year. Potapova won the match in three sets and 25 games.

Potapova has the advantage of just beating Sevastova on clay back in April, so there’s reason t consider her here. However, Potapova has been a double fault machine through three matches and a top-15 player such as Sevastova will take advantage of those miscues. There’s no reason to think Sevastova can’t make Potapova pay and advance to the final.

Sevastova makes her first final appearance of the year.

Pick:
Anastasija Sevastova
