Andy Murray and Andrey Rublev meet in the second round of the 2017 Australian Open.

Andy Murray is coming off a three set win over Illya Marchenko that took 33 games to decide. In the victory, Murray won 83 percent of his first serve points and 43 percent of his second serve points. Murray clearly had a rusty performance that included a second set tie break, and he struggled mightily with his second serve that allowed him to be broken three times. However, Murray still found a way to win, which has been a big part of this historic stretch, and he also avoided a marathon match. It'll be interesting to see if Murray plays a cleaner match here with some sets under his belt. Murray hasn’t lost in the second round of a grand slam since the 2005 US Open. Murray has won 10 of his last 11 matches on hard court.

Andrey Rublev is coming off a four set win over Yen-Hsun Lu that took 41 games to decide. In the victory, Rublev won 78 percent of his first serve points and 50 percent of his second serve points. Rublev has to be pleased just to make it to this point, as he’s a 19-year-old Russian who is in his second grand slam appearance. Anything else after this should be considered gravy for Rublev, who has just over 30 career singles matches under his belt. However, if Rublev ca protect his serve and limit his unforced errors, he may have a shot to at least put pressure on Murray. Rublev has never beaten a top-10 player in his career. Rublev has also never made the third round of a grand slam. Rublev has

This will be the first time these two meet on the tennis court.

Even with Murray struggling in his opening round, picking the young Rublev to win this match or even make it interesting would be nuts. Rublev played a lot of tennis just to qualify for this tournament and is now going up against the hottest player in the world with little experience. This match should be quick and painless.
