Susan Mullane-USA TODAY Sports

Andy Murray is set to play at the opening round of the ATP Washington Open. The Scottish superstar was forced to withdraw from Wimbledon due to injury but will be determined to return stronger and prepare well for the upcoming US Open. He will begin his ATP Washington Open campaign against Mackenzie McDonald from the United States. This is a big match for both tennis players so we should expect a top quality tennis match.

Mackenzie McDonald is still a young player and the American will be excited at the prospect of beating Andy Murray. This match is set to be one of the hardest tests that Mackenzie McDonald has faced in his career and he will be determined to ensure that he manages to do well. The American had a very impressive Wimbledon campaign as he made the fourth round of the tournament. That performance will have given the American youngster tons of confidence which he will look to use in this match.

On the other side of the court, Andy Murray will look to ease into the match. The former world number 1 has had injury issues for a while and he will know that he needs to be careful to ensure that he is not over exerting too early. As far as talent is concerned, Andy Murray is one of the best players of all-time but his performance in this match will be highly determined by his level of fitness. Either way, I am sure that the Scottish superstar will put up a good show.

All in all, I am going to pick Andy Murray to win. While Mackenzie McDonald has a chance if the Scottish superstar is not fit enough, I don’t think the American can compete against a fit Andy Murray. Either way, we are getting a good price to wager on the former world number 1 so that is the bet I am going to suggest.

Pick:
Andy Murray
