Granollers vs. Murray

The Line: -- Over/Under:
Andy Murray and Marcel Granollers meet in the second round of the 2016 US Open.
Andy Murray is coming off a straight sets win over Lukas Rosol that took 27 games to decide. Murray was in control of the match from start to finish and didn't have to waste much unnecessary energy. Murray continues to play arguably the best tennis of his life, which continues out-of-this-world defense and aggressive offense that includes few unforced errors. In fact, Murray has now won 24 of his last 29 sets and two of those losses came to a terrific formed Marin Cilic in Cincinnati. Murray hasn’t lost before the third round of a grand slam since the 2008 Australian Open. Murray has won 11 of his last 12 matches on hard court.
Marcel Granollers is coming off a straight sets win over Juan Monaco that took 36 games to decide. Granollers made all of the shots when they counted most as he won back-to-back tiebreaks and then pulled away in the final set. Granollers has had an up-and-down 2016 season overall, so he’ll be able to enter this match with little expectations and no pressure. However, even with his struggles, Granollers is always a threat due to his service game and effectiveness at the net. Granollers has made the third round of a grand slam three times since 2014. Granollers has won 10 of his last 13 matches on hard court.
These two have played nine times in the past and Murray has won seven of those meetings. The most recent match came in this year's Indian Wells Masters, a match Murray won in straight sets. Granollers’ last win over Murray came in the 2013 Rome Masters.
I’ve been saying that Murray is the top player in the world for months and I’m not picking against him anytime soon. Granollers is a respectable second round opponent, but he doesn’t have what it takes to stop the Murray train.
Murray wins in straight sets.
