The WTA Connecticut Open draw has produced a great opening round fixture as Kiki Bertens from the Netherlands takes on Anett Kontaveit from Estonia. These two players played each other at the Cincinnati Open last weekend where the Dutch superstar won. That was a very close and exciting match and we are expecting a similar type of contest in this match. This is the last tournament before the US Open so I am expecting the players to try and build some momentum before they play at Flushing Meadows.

Anett Kontaveit has been playing some good tennis recently and has managed to get big results over the past months. The Estonian is still very young and she has already established herself as one of the better players on the WTA tour. She has already won a WTA title and she will feel that she should win more tournaments. The last time that Anett Kontaveit played was her loss to Kiki Bertens at Cincinnati so this is the perfect chance for revenge and I am sure the Estonian will give 100%.

On the other side of the coin, Kiki Bertens is coming off a big win in Cincinnati. The Dutch superstar won the WTA title as she beat Simona Halep in the final. Bertens is in exceptional form and although that is positive, the schedule has meant that she has had no rest days. Fatigue is often a big factor in the WTA tour and it is will interesting to see if she is fit enough to play back-to-back tournaments.
While Kiki Bertens has been playing very well, I am going to pick against her. The Dutch superstar played a long tournament in Cincinnati while Anett Kontaveit is fresh having rested for a few days. I think that added rest will give Anett Kontaveit the win in this match.
