Hubert Hurkacz looks to come back from a bad defeat to Stefanos Tsitsipas last week as he meets Antoine Hoang in the first-round of the 2020 Marseille Open.
Hubert Hurkacz has definitely done a lot of thinking in the last week as he looks to go further in Marseille than he did in Rotterdam. Hurkacz was a set and 2-0 up against Stefanos Tsitsipas in the first-round of Rotterdam but ended up being destroyed by Tsitsipas who came back and beat him easily after in the third set. Hurkacz is a very talented player, he has a big serve, a strong forehand, and the confidence of someone who has a lot of experience. Hurkacz is fun to watch as well. Hurkacz can win titles and he can challenge the best. Let's hope his confidence is fine after a defeat which shocked him.
Antoine Hoang is a French star who has not really been able to capitalise on the chances he's been given to come onto the main tour. Hoang is great, but when it seems for him to play outside of French tournaments, he struggles. Hoang is more of a challenger level player and he will have to find another level in his game if he wants to be able to compete with the main guys on the tour. Hoang has the potential, but it is just whether he can find the confidence and put on the work to achieve it.
This will be the first meeting between both players and it only goes one way for me. Hurkacz is the more experienced player, he is the stronger player, and he will look to improve on last week's loss to Tsitsipas with a dominant display here in Marseille. Look for Hurkacz to be focused from the start and not give up any leads again.
Hubert Hurkacz to win.
