The Line: -- Over/Under:
Arantxa Rus and Kiki Bertens meet in the second round of the 2019 tennis Libema Open.
Arantxa Rus is coming off a straight sets win over Bibiane Schoofs that took 22 games to decide. In the victory, Rus won 62 percent of her first serve points and 58 percent of her second serve points. Rus won 60 percent of her total service points and converted on five of her eight break points. Rus got 60 percent of her first serves in play and saved three of her six break points. Rus got a much needed victory, as she’s somebody who has had trouble stringing together any success regardless of the level she’s played at over the last year. It’s now about sustaining success and putting a little streak together if possible. Rus hopes to win back-to-back matches on the main tour for the first time since Istanbul last year. Rus has split her last four matches on grass court.
Kiki Bertens is coming off a straight sets win over Johanna Larsson that took 16 games to decide. In the victory, Bertens won 82 percent of her first serve points and 35 percent of her second serve points. Bertens won 66 percent of her total service points and converted on five of her six break points. Bertens got 66 percent of her first serves in play and saved five of her six break points. It was a solid bounce back performance from Bertens, who was a popular pick to win the French Open but was bounced in the second round. Something tells me Bertens will be highly motivated to redeem herself and chase a title in this tournament to remove that sour taste from her mouth. Bertens hopes to win at least two matches for the sixth time in her last eight tournaments. Bertens has won five of her last six matches on grass court.
There’s no match history between these two players.
Rus has zero main tour success as of late and has had major issues with her game no matter where she’s played. While people will talk about the French Open early exit, Bertens was and is still is one of the hotter players on the women’s side and has been one of the most consistent when it comes to winning matches she’s supposed to win. This should be no different.
Bertens in straight sets.
