The Line — Over/Under
American teenager, Sofia Kenin, has made it into the third round of the 2018 WTA Wuhan Open. She will be playing world number 20, Aryna Sabalenka, from Belarus.
Aryna Sabalenka enters this match following a strong win in the second round over world number 6, Elina Svitolina. It was an even game but Sabalenka showed her class and quality in the third set where she won the important points. Aryna Sabalenka has a very strong record in China as she made it into the final of a tournament in this country in 2017. Sabalenka won her first ATP title in August where she won the WTA Connecticut Open and with the confidence of that win, she looks very strong in this tournament.
On the other side of the court, Sofia Kenin has continued her good form as she managed to make the third round of Coupe Nationale Banque in Quebec and now has beaten 2 top opponents at this tournament. Kenin has been very dominant at receiving serve as she has broken serve on 11 occasions in the past 2 matches and she has ensured all her opponents have struggled during their service games. That being said, this is expected to be a tough match for Kenin as she is playing an exceptional opponent.
This will be the first time that Aryna Sabalenka and Sofia Kenin will play each other.
Sofia Kenin has been very strong in her past few matches but this match seems too much for the American. Kenin has beaten higher ranked opponents who have been in poor form but Aryna Sabalenka is in top form. Furthermore, Aryna Sabalenka has a top record in China so she will be very comfortable about the conditions of play. Taking everything into consideration, I see Aryna Sabalenka winning this match and making the quarterfinals of the tournament.
