Australian tennis superstar, Ashleigh Barty has made it into the third round of the 2019 WTA Indian Wells Open in California. At this stage of the tournament, Barty will face Jennifer Brady from the United States
Jennifer Brady had a big win in her previous match as she beat the number 19 seed, Caroline Garcia, in 3 sets. It was a strong performance by Brady as she won the third set to love to seal the tie in her favour. During the win, Jennifer Brady served very strongly as she won over 60% of her service points which resulted in her winning 92% of her service games. Jennifer Brady has received tremendous support throughout this tournament and that is expected to continue for the American in this match.
On the other side of the court, Ashleigh Barty won her previous match in straight sets as she beat Tatjana Maria from Germany. During the win, Barty returned serve exceptionally well as she won 55% of her return points which allowed her to break her opponent’s serve on 5 occasions. Barty has had a very strong 2019 season as her current record is 9-2 which shows that she is in very good form.
This will be the first time that Ashleigh Barty and Jennifer Brady will be playing each other at a WTA event.
Taking everything into consideration, I am going to pick Ashleigh Barty to win this match. Jennifer Brady has had a very strong tournament and the American looks in very good form but I find it hard to see how she will match Barty. Barty is a much higher ranked player and she has been in exceptional form this season having won 82% of her matches. With that in mind, I see Ashleigh Barty making it into the fourth round of the tournament.
