Slovakian tennis player, Anna Karolína Schmiedlová has made it into the semifinals of the 2019 WTA Hobart International. At this stage of the tournament, she is set to Belinda Bencic from Switzerland.
Anna Karolína Schmiedlová played very well during the quarterfinals as she won in straight sets. During the win, Schmiedlová returned serve exceptionally well as she won over 50% of her receiving points. Anna Karolína Schmiedlová won 7 return games which allowed her to have an advantage throughout the match. While Anna Karolína Schmiedlová returned serve well, she struggled with her serve as she lost 5 service games. This is expected to be a much toughest match for Schmiedlová and she will need to improve her serve.
On the other side of the court, Belinda Bencic also won her previous match in straight sets. It was a solid performance by Bencic as she won 4 break points while only losing 3 service games. Belinda Bencic has had an amazing start to the 2019 season as she won the Hopman Cup with Roger Federer last week. Bencic looked confident during her matches at this tournament and considering her recent form, she will be confident as she heads into this match.
This will be the first time that Anna Karolína Schmiedlová and Belinda Bencic will be playing against each other at a WTA event.
This should be an interesting match as both Anna Karolína Schmiedlová and Belinda Bencic are young, talented and confident. As far as picking a winner is concerned, I am going to side with Belinda Bencic. While Anna Karolína Schmiedlová has had a strong tournament, Bencic looks to be playing with more confidence as she just won the Hopman Cup. I see Belinda Bencic making the final of the WTA Hobart International.
