Home favourite, Benoit Paire, meets Alexander Bublik in the second-round of the 2020 Marseille Open.
Benoit Paire just loves playing in France. Paire beat fellow Frenchman, Gregoire Barrere, in straight sets to book his spot in the second-round of the Marseille Open. Paire is one of those players who is just so unpredictable, but when confident and motivated perform incredibly well and can challenge anyone. Paire will want to win here in Marseille and if he plays the same way he did in his first-round match, he might be able to make it through to the quarterfinals. Paire has a lot of talent, he just needs to remain focused in matches. But we are in France, and Paire is at home when he plays here.
Alexander Bublik is a very similar player to Paire. Bublik is very talented, he has a great serve, forehand and backhand. However, Bublik is very unpredictable and sometimes just gives up in matches. Bublik can compete at the highest level of the game when confident and focused, but when he isn't, he struggles to beat lower ranked players. In Bublik's first-round victory over Marton Fucsovics however he was very concentrated and showed us some amazing points. Will Bublik stay focused or will his unpredictability and lack of focus get the better of him?
This will be the first meeting between both players, and because of Bublik's inability to remain consistent for a very long time, I believe that Paire will come through victorious. Paire is playing at home, and when he is at home he is at his best. Expect it to be close, and potentially go to a third set, but eventually Paire will win.
Benoit Paire to win.
