Japanese tennis superstar, Kei Nishikori has made it into the second round at the 2019 US Open in New York. Nishikori will play against Bradley Klahn from the United States at this stage of the tournament.

Kei Nishikori had a simple match in the opening round after his opponent retired during the second set. Nishikori had won the opening set 6-1 and was leading the second set 4-1 when his opponent retired from the match. During the match, Kei Nishikori received serve exceptionally well as he won 61% of his receiving points which allowed him to win 67% of his return games. Kei Nishikori also served well as he won all of his service games. The US Open has always been a strong tournament for Kei Nishikori as he made the final of this event in 2014. Nishikori made the semifinals of the US Open last season.

On the other side of the coin, Bradley Klahn enters this match having won his previous match in straight sets. Klahn received serve exceptionally well during his previous match as he won 48% of his receiving points which allowed him to break his opponent’s serve on 6 occasions. Klahn complemented his receiving by serving well as the American won 92% of his service games. This is expected to be a much tougher match for Bradley Klahn as he is playing against the number 7 seed.

This will be the first time that Kei Nishikori and Bradley Klahn will be playing each other at an ATP event.

Bradley Klahn is playing on home soil and following his win in the opening round, he will be confident in his ability to make an impact in this match. That being said, I am picking Kei Nishikori to win. Nishikori is a much stronger player and the Japanese superstar seems to always play his best tennis at the US Open. Nishikori looked dominant in his opening match and I see him being good enough to win this match and secure a spot in the third round.
