English tennis player, Cameron Norrie has made it into the third round of the 2019 ATP Monte Carlo Open. At this stage of the tournament, Cameron Norrie will face Lorenzo Sonego from Italy.
Lorenzo Sonego had a big win in the previous round as he defeated the number 8 seed, Karen Khachanov from Russia. It was a very solid performance as Sonego won in straight sets. During the win, Lorenzo Sonego served exceptionally well as the Italian player won 72% of his service points. Lorenzo Sonego won 91% of his service games and 2 return games to set up a comfortable win. Prior to arriving at Monaco, Sonego played at the Grand Prix Hassan II where he made the quarterfinals. Lorenzo Sonego looks in good form and his win over Khachanov will ensure he enters this match filled with confidence.
On the other side of the coin, Cameron Norrie also won his previous match in straight sets. Norrie won 82% of his service games and 30% of his return games to win both sets with comfort. It has been a poor few weeks for Cameron Norrie since he failed to win a match in his last 3 tournaments prior to arriving at Monte Carlo. Norrie will have to be at his best for this match since his opponent looks in terrific touch.
This will be the first time that Cameron Norrie and Lorenzo Sonego will be playing each other at an ATP event.
Cameron Norrie has more accomplishments and experience when compared his opponent but I see the Brit losing this match. Lorenzo Sonego has been in exceptional form over the past few weeks and the Italian looks very confident. Sonego beat a top player in his previous round and I see him winning this match and making it into the quarterfinals of the tournament.
