Monica Puig vs Caroline Garcia
|Date & Time||Friday August 24, 2018, 7:00 PM (EDT)|
The Line: -- Over/Under:
Only 4 players remain at the 2018 WTA Connecticut Open. Out of the four remaining players are Spanish superstar, Carla Suárez Navarro, and Puerto Rican superstar, Monica Puig. These are two of the most talented players in this event and they have shown their skill in the opening rounds. Only one of these players will make it to the final and challenge for the WTA title so I am expecting both players to try and perform at the top of their games. This should ensure we will get a great game of tennis to watch.
Carla Suárez Navarro has been one of the most consistent performers in the WTA tour as she often makes deep runs in tournaments. With that in mind, Carla Suárez Navarro has not won as many titles as she would have liked. This is a disappointing stat and it seems like Navarro is desperate for a trophy. With many of the top-ranked players resting for the US Open, Carla Suárez Navarro has a great chance to win a title and that should mean that she will very focus on this match. This is a dangerous fact for any opposition since a focussed Carla Suárez Navarro is a very strong player.
On the other side of the court, Monica Puig will look to win a title. The Puerto Rican superstar has looked at her best and while there have been a few nervous moments, she has looked good in general. This is the stage of the tournament where winning makes a big difference and I am expecting Monica Puig to understand this situation and rise to the occasion.
This is a very hard match to predict since both players are playing well at the moment. That being said, I am going to side with Carla Suárez Navarro winning. She looks very focused and I think she will be very difficult for anybody to beat.
