French tennis superstar, Caroline Garcia has made the second round of the 2019 WTA Ladies Open Lausanne in Switzerland. At this stage of the tournament, Caroline Garcia will play against Bernarda Pera from the United States.

Bernarda Pera enters this match having won her opening round fixture in straight sets. It was a dominant performance by Pera as she only lost 3 games in the entire match. During the win, Bernarda Pera served exceptionally well as she won 78% of her service points which allowed her to win all of her service games. Pera also returned serve very strongly as she won 56% of her receiving points which allowed her to win 63% of her return games. This competition is set to be tougher for Pera in this match as she is playing against the number 2 seed.

Looking at Caroline Garcia, the French player also won her previous match in straight sets. It was a dominant performance by Garcia as she won 100% of her service games and 3 return games.

Caroline Garcia had a very poor campaign at Wimbledon as she was eliminated in the opening round by Zhang Shuai. That being said, Garcia has been in good form recently as she made the quarterfinals of the Mallorca Open and won the Nottingham Open. Returning to clay should be a further boost for Caroline Garcia as the French player is very strong on this surface.

This will be the first time that Caroline Garcia and Bernarda Pera play each other at a WTA event.

Bernarda Pera looked very impressive in the opening round but I see her losing this match. Caroline Garcia is the number 2 seed and the French player has been playing well in recent months. Despite her poor Wimbledon campaign, Garcia has made 2 WTA finals in the last 2 months including a title victory at Nottingham. Caroline Garcia a considerably stronger player and I see being too good for Bernarda Pera in this match.
