French tennis superstar, Caroline Garcia is the number 2 seed at the 2019 WTA Baltic Open in Latvia. Garcia has made it into the second round of the tournament where she will play against Chloe Paquet who is also from France.
Caroline Garcia had to battle for 3 sets to defeat Kristyna Pliskova in the opening round. It was a very close match with the final 2 sets being decided by tiebreakers. During the win, Caroline Garcia impressed with her serving as she hit 11 aces which aided her to win 92% of her service points. Garcia won all of her service games and 1 return games during the victory. While the receiving statistics were low for Garcia, it should not be an area of concern since Pliskova is a very strong server. It has been a strong few months for Caroline Garcia as she recently won the Nottingham Open and made the quarterfinals of the Mallorca Open. With form on her side, Caroline Garcia will be tough to beat in this tournament.
Looking at her opponent, Chloe Paquet defeated Başak Eraydın in straight sets in the previous round. It was a good performance by Paquet as she received serve exceptionally well. Chloe Paquet won 55% of her receiving points which allowed her to break her opponent’ serve on 6 occasions. While the receiving was good, Paquet struggled with her own serve as she lost 4 service games. With Garcia as her opponent in this match, Chloe Paquet must improve her serve if she wishes to compete.
Chloe Paquet and Caroline Garcia have not played each other in the past.
Chloe Paquet was good in her opening match as she won her match with some ease. That being said, I see Paquet struggling in this match. Chloe Paquet has not been serving well and I see her struggling to hold serve against Caroline Garcia. Garica won’t allow Paquet many break point chances so this could be a very one-sided contest. Caroline Garcia is the stronger player and I see her being too good for Chloe Paquet in this match.
