Tennis | Monica Puig vs Caroline Garcia
Jean-Yves Ahern-USA TODAY Sports

Caroline Garcia has made it the quarterfinals of the WTA Connecticut Open. The French superstar will be facing Monica Puig from Puerto Rico. Both these players are capable of exceptional tennis and have shown their skill and class over the past few tournaments. With the title not far in the distance, I am expecting both Monica Puig and Caroline Garcia to play their best tennis.

Caroline Garcia is the number 2 seed for this tournament and with the withdrawal of Simona Halep, she is the highest ranked player remaining. It has been a while since Caroline Garcia last won a WTA title and she will know that this is a great chance for her to end that winless run. The lack of titles will be a great disappointment for Garcia as she has been making many deep runs without finishing the job. With the top players out of the tournament, this is a great chance for Caroline Garcia to win this event and I am expecting her to be put in 100% since she is not far away from the goal. This should ensure we see Garcia playing to the best of her ability in this match.

On the other side of the court, Monica Puig has also been playing well. The Puerto Rican has impressed many over the past month in North America and she will look to continue her form by beating one of the best players in the world. That being said, Monica Puig is facing a very determined opponent which will make things very hard for the talented Puerto Rican.

Taking everything into consideration, I am picking Caroline Garcia to win this match. She is the better player and she looks determined to win this event. I am expecting both players to win a set since Monica Puig is good enough to cause Caroline Garcia some problems.
