The Line: Wozniacki -315 / Bellis +255 -- Over/Under:
Caroline Wozniacki and CiCi Bellis meet in the third round of the 2017 French Open.
Caroline Wozniacki is coming off a straight sets win over Francoise Abanda that took 12 games to decide. In the victory, Wozniacki won 80 percent of her first serve points and 67 percent of her second serve points. Wozniacki is coming off an extremely impressive performance in which she won 67 percent of her return points and had just nine unforced errors. Wozniacki has won 53 of her 77 first serve points in her first two matches, numbers that will lead her a long way if she can keep it up. Wozniacki hopes to make the fourth round of a grand slam for the second time since 2015. Wozniacki has not made the fourth round of the French Open since 2010. Wozniacki has split her last six matches on clay court.
CiCi Bellis is coming off a straight sets win over Kiki Bertens that took 22 games to decide. In the victory, Bellis won 56 percent of her first serve points and 52 percent of her second serve points. Bellis has managed to reach her second career third round appearance in a grand slam, but she knows she must play better to keep the run going. Bellis hasn't exactly been sharp with her serve and has had more unforced errors than winners in both of her matches. While Bellis has found a way to get it done, 27 unforced errors to 11 winners isn't going to result in a lot of victories. Bellis hopes to make the fourth round of a grand slam for the first time in her career. Bellis has won five of her last six matches on clay court.
These two have played once in the past, which was this year's Dubai Tennis Championships, a match Wozniacki won in straight sets. The match took 17 games to decide. This is obviously their first meeting on clay.
If Bellis plays to her potential, she’ll have a shot at an upset, but that’s requiring her to play far greater than what she's shown in her first two matches. Wozniacki is coming off possibly the best performance of anybody on the WTA side so far, and she's been really consistent on the return. There's going to be a lot of pressure on Bellis to hold serve and any slip up will cost her this match.
I like Wozniacki to advance to the fourth round.
