Danish tennis superstar, Caroline Wozniacki will begin her Wimbledon campaign against Sara Sorribes Tormo from Spain.

Sara Sorribes Tormo enters this tournament following a decent start to the grass court season. Tormo played 5 grass court matches with a win rate of 60%. While Sara Sorribes Tormo has shown decent form, the Spaniard has not had any big results at full WTA tournaments. In 2019, Sara Sorribes Tormo has only won 56% of her matches.

Sara Sorribes Tormo had a strong grass court season in 2018 as she won 72% of her grass court matches last season. In her career, Sara Sorribes Tormo has played 3 matches at Wimbledon and has a record of 1-2 at this event.

On the other side of the coin, Caroline Wozniacki last played at the Eastbourne International. It was a decent tournament for Wozniacki as she made the third round where she was defeated by Aryna Sabalenka.

Grass is a very strong surface for Caroline Wozniacki as she has won close to 70% of her matches on this surface. Caroline Wozniacki’s achievements on grass include winning the Eastbourne International twice. The best performance by Caroline Wozniacki at Wimbledon is a fourth-round appearance. Wozniacki won Wimbledon as a junior.

This will be the first time that Sara Sorribes Tormo and Caroline Wozniacki will be playing each other at a WTA event.

Sara Sorribes Tormo is only 22 and she lacks the experience of playing at Grand Slam events. Tormo has had a decent start to her 2019 grass court season but this is a very difficult draw for the Spaniard. Caroline Wozniacki has not had the best season but the Danish superstar looked in decent touch during the Eastbourne International. Wozniacki has played at Wimbledon on multiple occasions and she has done relatively well at this event. Looking at these two players, Wozniacki is the stronger and better player and I see her being too strong for Sara Sorribes Tormo.
