Casper Ruud from Norway has made it into the semifinals of the 2019 ATP Brasil Open in São Paulo. At this stage of the tournament, Ruud will play against Christian Garín from Chile.
Christian Garín enters this match having beaten the number 4 seed, Leonardo Mayer, in the previous round. It was a tough match for Garin but he showed heart by coming from 1 set down to win the contest in 3 sets. During the win, Christian Garín served exceptionally well as he won 68% of his service points which resulted in him winning 93% of his service games. It has been a tough 2019 season for Christian Garín as this is the first tournament where he has made it past the second round.
On the other side of the coin, Casper Ruud has been in better form this season as he made the quarterfinals of the Rio Open last week. Ruud defeated Hugo Dellien in the previous round. It was a very comfortable win for Casper Ruud as he only allowed his opponent to win 2 games in the entire match. Ruud won all of his service games and 71% of his return games which resulted in an overall straight sets win. Ruud is yet to lose a set in this tournament which shows that he is in very good form for this match.
This is set to be the first time that Christian Garin and Casper Ruud will be playing each other at an ATP event.
Both players have played well at this tournament but I see Casper Ruud winning this match. Casper Ruud has looked in better form and has been more clinical in his wins. Ruud is in good form having recently made the quarterfinals at the Rio Open and that should give the Norwegian a huge amount of confidence. With that in mind, I see Casper Ruud winning this match and making the final.
