NextGen rising star, Casper Ruud, meets Pedro Sousa in the Final of the 2020 Buenos Aires Open. Who will achieve their first ATP Tour title on Sunday?
Pedro Sousa booked his spot in the Final in a very underwhelming way. Sousa was set to play Diego Schwartzman on Saturday following the Casper Ruud vs. Juan Ignacio Londero match, however, Schwartzman withdrew due to injury. Schwartzman had an injury concern in the quarter-final against Pablo Cuevas and whether he would be able to compete today was really 50/50. Other than that, Sousa has had a pretty good tournament. The Portuguese tennis player was able to beat an inform Thiago Monteiro and showed us his speed around the court. Will Sousa be able to win his first ATP title at the age of 31?
Casper Ruud incredibly won his match against Juan Ignacio Londero from out of no where. Ruud looked beat for the first half of the match, losing the first set and then being down a break in the second. Ruud was able to come back in the match and eventually win the third set 6-1. Casper Ruud is one of the most exciting and underrated up and coming players. Ruud's consistency is amazing and his mental strength is right up there with the best. Ruud has trained with Rafael Nadal in the past and was a prodigy of Nadal's Academy. I believe that Ruud will be one of the main guys on the ATP Tour in a few years and he will be winning many titles. Will he be able to get his first here in Buenos Aires?
This will be the first meeting between these two players and it will be a thrilling encounter. Both players could win this match. Sousa has the experience, but is not as fast or amazing around the court as he used to be. Ruud has the speed, he is young and he is determined, but he does not have the experience. After watching these two play throughout the week though, one player stands out more. Casper Ruud seems to be the man of the moment, and I believe that he will achieve his first title on Sunday in what should be a very fun match.
Casper Ruud to win.
