Italian tennis player, Thomas Fabbiano has made it into the quarterfinals at the 2019 ATP Swiss Open. At this stage of the tournament, Thomas Fabbiano is set to play against Cedrik-Marcel Stebe from Germany.

Cedrik-Marcel Stebe defeated Jiri Vesely in the previous round of the tournament. It was a close match but Stebe showed his class to win the contest in 3 sets. During the win, Cedrik-Marcel Stebe served exceptionally well. Stebe won 70% of his service points which allowed him to win 88% of his service games. While the serving was impressive, Cedrik-Marcel Stebe struggled with his receiving. Stebe only won 2 return games in the entire match and that made it tough for the German to gain an advantage.

On the other side of the coin, Thomas Fabbiano also had to battle for 3 sets to defeat Lorenzo Sonego. It was a big win for Fabbiano since Sonego is the number 4 seed. Similar to Stebe, Thomas Fabbiano also impressed with his serving during the previous round. Fabbiano won 72% of his service points which resulted in the Italian player winning 86% of his service games. It has been a very strong few weeks for Thomas Fabbiano as he made the semifinals of the Eastbourne International and the third round at Wimbledon. At Wimbledon, Thomas Fabbiano defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in the opening round.

Thomas Fabbiano and Cedrik-Marcel Stebe have played each other 3 times in the past. Stebe has won on 2 occasions while Fabbiano has won once. The most recent match between these two players was in 2016 where Cedrik-Marcel Stebe won in straight sets. Thomas Fabbiano last defeated Cedrik-Marcel Stebe in 2008.

Looking at all the information, I am going to pick Thomas Fabbiano to win this match. Fabbiano has been playing outstanding tennis over the past few months and the Italian looks confident following his recent results. With momentum on his side, I see Thomas Fabbiano securing a spot in the semifinal.
