The Line: -- Over/Under:
South Korean tennis superstar, Chung Hyeon has made the quarterfinals of the 2018 ATP Stockholm Open where he will be playing Fabio Fognini from Italy.
Chung Hyeon has played exceptionally well in this tournament as he has won both of his matches in straight sets. Chung beat Denis Kudla in the second round with the South Korean impressing with his serve. During the victory, Chung won over 70% of the points played on his serve which led him to win all of his service games. A good run to end the season will be very important for Hyeon Chung as the South Korean had a very poor Asian tour as he only won 1 match in entire leg. With injuries and bad form plaguing much of this season, it will be interesting to see if Chung can continue to win with a much stronger opponent on the other side of the court.
In contrast, Fabio Fognini has been in exceptional form as he came second at the Chengdu Open while making the semifinals of the China Open. Fognini has continued his impressive form in Sweden as he won his second round match against Lukas Lacko in straight sets. It was a solid performance by Fognini as he broke Lacko’s serve on 3 occasions while only losing 1 service game. Fognini's serve has been consistently been effective as the Italian has only lost 2 service games in his last 3 matches. With Fognini high on confidence after his recent success, the Italian will be a challenge for any opponent.
This will be the first time that Hyeon Chung will be playing Fabio Fognini.
Taking everything into consideration, I am going to pick Fabio Fognini to win this match. Fognini has been playing some incredible tennis over the past few months while Chung has struggled with injury. With such a great contrast in form, I see Fabio Fognini being too strong for Hyeon Chung.
