Tennis | Guillermo García-López vs Chung Hyeon
Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

South Korean superstar, Chung Hyeon has decided to play one more tournament before the US Open. Chung Hyeon will enter the Winston-Salem Open as the number 6 seed and will look to make a deep run in the tournament to gain momentum before the start of the US Open. He will play his first match of the tournament in the second round as he got an opening round bye due to his high seeding. His first match will be against Guillermo García-López from Spain.

Guillermo García-López won his opening round match in straight sets. The Spaniard looked dominant and seemed to be hitting the ball very cleanly. This will be a much harder match for Guillermo García-López as he is playing a much better player. This will be the second time that Guillermo García-López faces the South Korean with their last meeting ending in Chung Hyeon winning in straight sets. This is something that Guillermo García-López will be desperate to change as he will not want to lose to the South Korean again. Guillermo García-López is not 35 years of age and although he is still playing singles tennis, he has transitioned into a doubles player. It will be interesting to see if Guillermo García-López can still maintain himself as a singles player against the best in the world.

Chung Hyeon, on the other hand, will look to win with some ease. The South Korean has been playing well and in 2018, he is much more superior to his opponent. Winning matches in this tournament will be very important for Chung Hyeon as he needs to establish some momentum heading into the US Open.

With everything taken into consideration, I only see one winner and that is Chung Hyeon. The South Korean is the better player and I think he will win this match with some ease.

Pick:
Chung Hyeon
